Dwella ( Subjected to change upon registration)
Dwella is a two-way review and reference platform designed to bring transparency, trust, and accountability to the rental market. Think of it as the “trusted review network” for housing, where both renters and landlords can build verified reputations.
About this Project
Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
Dwella provides a verified, standardized review system where: • Renters can build profiles showcasing past rental history, references, and reviews from previous landlords. • Landlords & properties can display verified reviews from past tenants, increasing trust and transparency. • Both parties can leave structured, verified feedback after rental experiences; similar to Airbnb’s dual review model, but purpose-built for long-term rentals.
Project Impact
Dwella directly addresses the growing housing challenges facing youth in Canada who struggle to find housing due to limited rental history, lack of local references. Many young renters are entering adulthood without established credit or renting history which creates barriers to accessing stable housing and increases vulnerability to unsafe or exploitative living situations. 3 By providing portable renter profiles and verified references, Dwella empowers youth to build credible rental reputations early, helping them compete fairly and transition more smoothly into independent living. At the same time, youth gain access to transparent, real-life reviews about properties and landlords, including insights into safety, maintenance, and living conditions allowing them to make more informed decisions and reduce risk. The platform also supports newcomers to Canada helping them demonstrate reliability through verified experiences rather than relying solely on credit history or local networks. This levels the playing field and promotes equitable access to housing opportunities. Through a mutual review system, Dwella encourages accountability and respectful relationships between renters and landlords, creating a safer and more transparent rental ecosystem for young people. Ultimately, Dwella aims to increase housing stability, improve safety awareness, reduce uncertainty, and empower Canadian youth with tools to confidently navigate one of the most critical transitions into adulthood: finding and maintaining secure housing.
Project Mission
Dwella reduces risk, improves trust, and simplifies the rental process by creating a transparent verified review ecosystem, Dwella aims to become the go-to platform for reputation in the rental market.
