Sophia Kydd
Sophia Kydd is a second year STFX student, who has volunteered in the community through coaching competitive swimming to children, has been involved in community theatre, and was on a Mayors Youth Committee in Moncton, New Brunswick. Sophia also participated in grad council in high school. Having suffered from many health complications due to menstruation, she is passionate about making a difference through Period Warriors.
Period Warriors Social Justice
Period Warriors is a project dedicated to providing period products to individuals in shelters across Moncton, New Brunswick. Additionally, the initiative conducts educational programs in schools, primarily in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and potentially Moncton, New Brunswick.

How the project works
The activities of Period Warriors consisted of using the Sprout Ideas Fellowship grant to purchase pads, tampons and menstrual cups to donate to underserved populations in homeless shelters.
Project Impact
There was an enormous impact on the local Moncton community and beyond. Period products were donated to three separate shelters and through an initiative called "Christmas in July" which supports people all over New Brunswick. Personal connections were made with some of those benefiting from Period Warriors making those individuals feel less alone. The project overall has help to

Period Warriors aims to provide period products, end period stigma, and improve quality of life.
Project Team
I currently do not have a project team, this is something I am taking on over the course of the summer by myself. However, I will be working with those in shelters.
