Samardeep Lidhar

I am a Brampton-based aspiring community organizer passionate about building more connected and civically engaged communities. I am to create welcoming spaces where youth and women can come together to learn, share experiences, and discuss issues that affect their daily lives. Through Coffee, Chai & Chat, I hope to bring people together in informal community settings to explore civic topics, strengthen local connections, and make conversations about politics and community life more accessible. I believe that inclusive conversations can spark meaningful change and help more people feel empowered to participate in shaping their communities.

Coffee, Chai & Chat

Coffee, Chai & Chat is a community initiative that creates welcoming spaces for youth and women in Brampton to connect, learn, and engage in conversations about civic life. Through informal coffee chats and community gatherings, the project makes discussions about municipal, provincial, and federal issues more accessible. By bringing people together in relaxed settings, Coffee, Chai & Chat aims to strengthen social connection, build civic awareness, and empower more community members to participate in shaping their local communities.

    When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      How the project works

      Coffee, Chai & Chat will run from April to August, beginning with team recruitment and training. The project will host a series of community coffee chats focused on municipal, provincial, and federal issues, along with a wellness-focused event for the girlies and the allies. These gatherings will create space for learning, dialogue, and community connection.

      Project Impact

      Coffee, Chai & Chat will help the girlies and allies in Brampton feel more connected to their community and more confident engaging with civic issues. By creating accessible spaces for conversation and learning, the project aims to increase civic awareness, strengthen local relationships, and empower participants to feel that their voices and experiences matter in shaping their communities.

      The project’s goal is to make civic engagement feel more approachable while fostering dialogue, increasing awareness of local issues, and empowering participants to feel more confident participating in community life.
