Rae Landriau

Rae Landriau is a graduate student at Carleton University pursuing an MSc. in physical geography. Their research is on legacy drilling waste sites in the western Canadian Arctic. Their project is in collaboration with the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, Inuvialuit Land Administration and NSERC PermafrostNet. Passionate about sharing their love for science and nature, Rae founded the Create Change Collective, a community-based organization dedicated to making environmental education more accessible. Through artistic mediums, they engage individuals in climate action. Rae has authored two books, “Running Water” (2022) and “Colouring for Conservation” (2024), distributing over 350 physical and 1000 electronic copies free of charge across Canada ensuring low-barrier accessibility to resources.

Art for Climate Justice Showcase

Art has the unique ability to evoke emotions, provoke thought, and spark conversations. The art for climate justice has been curated to engage diverse audiences and amplify the voices of Ottawa artists advocating for environmental sustainability and equity.

My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:

    United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

    When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      How the project works

      An open call for submissions from young artists aged 30 or under, of all skill levels, to contribute their artwork centered around the themes of climate and environmental justice. This initiative aims to amplify the voices of emerging artists and provide them with the opportunity to showcase with work in person on October 5th.

      Project Impact

      People will protect what they care about, to get them to care about the environment they need to feel connected to it. Using art we aim to inspire a passion for conservation and environmental justice!

      The mission of Create Change Collective is to make environmental education accessible through the use of art and community organizing!
