Quinn Dunphy

I am a Métis youth leader dedicated to building stronger connections between young people and their communities. I founded Manitoba Youth to create opportunities for Indigenous and underrepresented youth to engage with their heritage, culture, and local support networks. Through this work, I focus on creating inclusive spaces, promoting cultural pride, and encouraging youth leadership. My goal is to help young people feel seen, supported, and empowered to take an active role in shaping their futures and their communities.

Manitoba Youth

Manitoba Youth is a community-driven initiative that connects Indigenous and underrepresented youth to their culture, heritage, and local support networks. The project creates inclusive spaces where young people can learn, share, and grow through cultural activities, mentorship, and community engagement. Its goal is to strengthen identity, build confidence, and empower youth to become leaders within their communities.

About this Project

Communities Served

My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:

    United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      How the project works

From now through August 2026, Manitoba Youth will host monthly cultural and community events, including beading workshops, Seven Teachings painting sessions, soapstone carving workshops, and summer community clean-ups. These activities will be spread evenly across the months to provide consistent engagement, cultural learning, and opportunities for youth connection and leadership development.

      Project Impact

Manitoba Youth creates a safe, inclusive space for LGBTQ2S+, racialized, Indigenous, and non-Indigenous youth. Through cultural activities, mentorship, and community connection, it builds confidence, reduces isolation, and strengthens identity. The project encourages leadership, promotes understanding across cultures, and empowers underrepresented youth to feel a sense of belonging in their communities.

      Project Mission

Manitoba Youth’s mission is to empower Indigenous and underrepresented youth by strengthening connections to culture, community, and leadership. Our goals are to create inclusive spaces, provide mentorship and cultural learning opportunities, foster pride and belonging, and equip young people with the confidence and skills to become positive leaders in their communities.
