Omer Abdalla
I am a young community leader passionate about creating spaces of belonging and empowerment for underrepresented voices. Through my work with Salaam Spaces, Silver Connect, and now EmpowerNISA, I focus on fostering collaboration, mentorship, and entrepreneurship within underserved communities. With a strong commitment to excellence and autonomy, I strive to build inclusive programs that uplift women, youth, and racialized communities. My journey as a social innovator has been shaped by a dedication to storytelling, outreach, and sustainable impact. I believe in the power of community-driven change and continue to nurture networks that inspire growth, resilience, and shared success.
EmpowerNisa
EmpowerNISA is a women-focused business incubator designed to support Muslim women at the idea-to-early-business stage. Rooted in the values of Ihsan and autonomy, it provides hands-on training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to help participants build confidence, develop entrepreneurial skills, and launch sustainable ventures. Through storytelling, strategy, and pitch readiness, EmpowerNISA not only equips women to succeed in business but also empowers them to become leaders who give back to the broader Canadian community.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
EmpowerNISA runs over 3–4 months, offering 6–8 interactive sessions on storytelling, incorporation, branding, strategy, and pitch readiness. Participants receive mentorship, peer support, and networking opportunities, culminating in a final pitch showcase that highlights their growth and connects them with community partners and industry leaders.
Project Impact
EmpowerNISA empowers Muslim women entrepreneurs by equipping them with skills, mentorship, and networks to launch and grow sustainable businesses. The program fosters confidence, leadership, and community engagement, enabling participants not only to succeed economically but also to serve as role models and changemakers within the broader Canadian society.
Project Mission
EmpowerNISA’s mission is to cultivate confident, community-driven Muslim women entrepreneurs by providing accessible training, mentorship, and strategic support. Its goals are to equip participants with essential business skills, foster leadership rooted in Ihsan and autonomy, and build strong networks that enable women to thrive economically while giving back to their communities.
