Neha Menon
Neha is a fourth-year student at the University of British Columbia studying Environmental and Data Science! Outside of school she loves going for hikes, trying out new coffee shops or new recipes with friends. She is very excited to complete this project along with her team at the UBC Korle-Bu Neuroscience Club and engage as many students as they can with their speaker series, Care Across Continents. They have some pretty amazing speakers lined up so it will definitely be an impactful event!
Care Across Continents-A three part speaker series
Care across Continents- A three part speaker series is tailored towards students who are passionate about healthcare and eager to learn more about diverse career paths. We’ve noticed that university students often lack opportunities to engage with healthcare professionals and are hoping to bridge this gap by providing opportunities to hear firsthand experiences, ask questions and build meaningful connections.
About this Project
Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
We will be hosting 3 speaker series events with 1-3 speakers at each event, presenting their work and answering questions from the audience. Our first two events will occur in October and our last one will occur in November.
Project Impact
Our project will help university students gain a better understanding of healthcare careers and provide them with the resources to engage with healthcare professionals. In addition, there are opportunities for community building among students who attend and can find other, like-minded peers.
Project Mission
This project's mission is to support students in the UBC community by bridging a gap between local and global healthcare by connecting students with diverse healthcare professionals. We aim for students to build meaningful relationships and increase their understanding in the global health sector, to help guide their own careers and encourage a well-rounded perspective on global health.
Project Team
We have a great executive team that will ensure this event is executed to the best extent!
