Meseret Abebe
Hey, I’m Meseret (Mezzie), based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang (Montréal). I see community work as something I move through alongside others — not as a leader, but as a listener, collaborator, and team member. Kindred Sagas grew from my desire to build intergenerational connections within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, especially with elders whose stories and presence are often overlooked. I’ve always loved planning events and working with artists, and I’m learning how to bridge my organizing and creative practices in ways that feel sustainable and caring. For me, leadership looks like supporting others, showing up consistently, and co-creating spaces where we can feel connected, grounded, and held.
Kindred Sagas'- An intergenerational meeting point for Anglo 2SLGBTQIA+ and allies
Kindred Sagas is an intergenerational arts-based workshop series created to foster connection, care, and creativity between 2SLGBTQIA+ elders and younger folks in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang (Montreal). Through monthly gatherings that centre shared meals and accessible artistic practices, the project creates space for storytelling, healing, and connecting across generations. Kindred Sagas uplifts anglophone elders while embracing a broader culture of inclusion, offering a mobile model for connection rooted in mutual support and creative expression.
