Dear Future YEG Youth ACCCTIVATOR
Dear Future YEG’s Youth Accctivator is a two-day event that supports Edmontonians aged 18 to 30 in identifying community gaps and opportunities for leadership, and in building skills to create impact. This project aims to empower young change makers, build on skills, and hear from community leaders and advocates. Through intentional skill-based workshops and small group mentoring, young advocates have the opportunity to contribute to a policy brief that will be provided to local politicians.
About this Project
Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
Youth ACCCTIVATOR is a two-day event that offers guided learning through workshops, an expert panel, and building connections. Over the two days, youth will reflect on their communities, and collaborate on a policy brief that will be presented to policymakers at multiple levels.
Project Impact
DFY’s Youth ACCCTIVATOR intends to provide relevant community-building skills and impact policies by crafting a policy brief that calls on policymakers to prioritize youth in decision-making spaces. Through building connections with other young people across Edmonton, participating in skill-building workshops, and hearing from local community-building changemakers, youth will gain confidence in advocacy and mobilizing community to propel the SDGs, like reducing inequalities and strengthening institutions.
Project Mission
This program serves to equip young people with the tools to mobilize community, connect with policymakers, and strengthen skills in advocacy and networking.
