Iylah is a youth community leader who creates inclusive youth spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ children and teens. They work with community organizations and schools to strengthen the support for queer and trans* young people through a resilience development model.
Rainbow Classrooms Education
Rainbow Classrooms is an initiative that provides guidance to teachers in Ontario who are seeking to build a queer-inclusive classroom. Rainbow Classrooms shares insight on a diverse array of topics related to supporting queer and trans* youth in education, delivers professional development training, and provides teachers with Progress Pride flags to proudly display in their classrooms.

How the project works
Rainbow Classrooms provides ongoing consulting and professional development to teachers and educators, and sends progress pride flags to classrooms three times a year: Once during June, Once during October, and once during January.
Project Impact
Rainbow Classrooms sent over 500 flags being sent to teachers in Ontario. This initiative promotes belonging and inclusion of students in every classroom. Rainbow classrooms also provided guidance and insight on specific issues, and provided professional development sessions to several schools on queering education and building resilience in 2SLGBTQIA+ youth
Project Mission
Our mission is to equip schools with the necessary tools to create an affirming environment for queer and trans students. We achieve this by sending progress pride flags to schools and providing training for teachers and educators on pathways towards being an advocate for the rainbow students in their classrooms.

Our team is made up entirely of 2SLGBTQ+ youth who are passionate about supporting education.
