Youth Pop Up Market
The Youth Pop-Up Market in the Niagara Region will run from February to August, giving young people a chance to access healthy, affordable groceries while learning practical skills in budgeting, nutrition, and sustainable living. This project is especially for students who are newcomers, refugees, or from low-income families, who often face challenges in finding nutritious food on a limited budget. Hosted in partnership with Links for Greener Learning and the Niagara Public Library, the pop-ups will take place at schools and community centers, creating a welcoming space for youth to explore healthy eating, connect with others, and feel supported. Any small revenue generated will be reinvested to make sure the market can keep running. Beyond groceries, this initiative helps youth build confidence, financial literacy, and a sense of community, while learning about sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Project Impact
The Youth Pop-Up Market will make a real difference for students in the Niagara Region, especially newcomers, refugees, and those from low-income families. Through 21 pop-up markets and 6 food and financial literacy workshops, students will gain access to healthy, affordable groceries while learning practical skills in budgeting, nutrition, and sustainable living. This project not only supports their physical well-being but also builds confidence, independence, and a sense of community, helping them thrive both in school and in life.
Project Mission
Our mission is to empower newcomer and refugee youth by building their financial literacy and promoting healthy eating habits. We do this through interactive workshops, pop-up markets, and skill building activities that make nutritious food affordable and accessible. Our vision: A community where all young people, regardless of income or background, have the knowledge, confidence, and resources to make healthy, informed food choices and manage their finances responsibly. To reduce food insecurity among newcome, underrepresented, and refugee youth, helping them develop lifelong habits of healthy eating and responsible budgeting while fostering inclusion and equal opportunity.
Project Team
My team include an environmental Charity who will help me in the operation, and 1 community public library.
