Ian Kim

Hey! My name is Ian, and I'm from the Greater Toronto Area. As a young community leader, I've focused my efforts on environmental advocacy and education, particularly towards youth. Together with my team at the Human Nature Projects Ontario, we've hosted webinars, summits, and conferences to educate youth on various environmentally pertinent topics such as eco-anxiety, environmental intersectionalities, and electric vehicles.

Understanding Global Sustainability Through One Health

Our project is a conference that seeks to bring together various experts, stakeholders, and voices to help educate youth about the stark impacts climate change has upon their health, particularly through the integrated approach of One Health: examining how ecosystem, animal, and human health are all directly connected. In doing so, we hope to raise awareness of climate change to various youth members at a personal level.

About this Project

Communities Served

My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:

    United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      How the project works

Our project will revolve around various stakeholders and experts (such as professors, policymakers, students, and youth activists) to discuss the various intricacies related to One Health from an environmental perspective, as well as open discussion on the topic, to raise awareness and educate youth attendees.

      Project Impact

By discussing various direct ways that the climate crisis harms human, animal, and ecological health, my hope is our project may increase environmental literacy and awareness for youth, and thus, inspire a generation of environmentally-minded changemakers.

      Project Mission

Our mission is for our various youth attendees to leave the event with the necessary facts to be properly aware of climate change, filling in the gaps that our education system has left behind on climate change education, particularly in its intersection with human health.

      Project Team

Youth-led, non-profit organization seeking to increase awareness about environmental issues to inspire environmental action.
