Frances (Frannie) Potts
Frannie Potts is a Toronto-based artist, muralist and workshop facilitator with over a decade of experience. She believes that art-making should be accessible to everyone, and strives to make this a reality in her home community of Scarborough. This led her to become the cofounder of Scarbrite, a grassroots community arts organization whose goal is to brighten the streets of Scarborough through co-creating works of art. Frannie has also made her mark in the arts community through her work with numerous organizations, including StreetARToronto, Scarborough Arts, Mural Routes, Urban Arts, VIBE Arts and more. Her work has been featured on CP24, The York Guardian, and Toronto.com.

How the project works
Over five in-person sessions in August 2026, ten female or non-binary participants work with Scarbrite to co-create an indoor wall mural that reflects their own personal and collective experiences in the community.
Project Impact
• Participants feel more ✨CONFIDENT, PREPARED & EMPOWERED✨ to express themselves, work in collaborative settings, and secure artistic projects of their own. • Participants receive a certificate, volunteer hours, and an honourarium of $250 upon program completion. • Participants are invited to help support future Scarbrite programs as artist assistants.
Project Mission
To cocreate a mural in a community centre that reflects the shared stories of program participants in Scarborough. To empower young women to feel confident and prepared to take on future artistic opportunities of their own.
