Fanny Lord Bourcier
I’m a multidisciplinary artist and community organizer who brings my artistic practice into community work through events, art-and-discussion workshops, and graphic design. I focus on issues related to transnational adoption and diasporic identities, and I’ve been an active member of the Soft Gong collective since 2023.
A Light on Our Body-Territories
[Une lumière sur nos corps-territoires] As adoptees from China, we want to give our community a way to reclaim our bodies and voices through artistic expression. We are organizing a traveling exhibition that showcases both the individual and collective work of artists from the Chinese adoptee community, based on the art-and-discussion workshops we will lead.
About this Project
Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
Collaborative workshop: This workshop responds to the one held in China. We aim to create a dialogue between our homeland and our adoptive land. It will take place in August 2025. Lantern and artwork creation: Fall 2025 Exhibition: Early 2026, a space for community gathering, sharing, and discussion.
Project Impact
The project addresses the lack of representation of marginalized people, as well as the silence and isolation surrounding trauma and mental health. It will open up dialogue both within the community and beyond, and support healing through the sharing of collective knowledge.
Project Mission
Our mission is to create a lasting space where artists and other community members can come together around relational art, and to foster collaborations and partnerships with organizers, groups, or venues that share similar values and missions in order to reach the community.
Project Team
We are community organizers and artists active within the adoptee community in Montreal.
