Charlotte Marron
I am studying finance as a Presidential Scholar at UBC. This past summer I worked at BCI, a firm managing $233 billion in assets, in their Global Thematic Equity division. I worked as a producer for a UK-based film company led by Emmy, BAFTA, and Peabody award-winning Sorious Samura in the summer of 2023. In 2022, I completed a marketing internship at Rupi Kaur Inc., working closely with the New York Times bestselling author. In high school, I founded 'Magic Messes,' a social enterprise focused on anti-bullying that impacted elementary schools across Canada. I have received awards from Telus, Unilever, Louise Russo Wave, Youth Drive Impact and the Ontario Ministry of Education.
Magic Messes: Changemakers
"Magic Messes: Changemakers" is a free channel targeting North American elementary students (ages 7-13) to combat bullying, which affects 1 in 3 Canadian students. Through improvisation, skits, and personal stories, the channel promotes self-esteem and mental health, addressing the early roots of bullying. By making content accessible to all, it aims to inspire children to support each other, challenging the societal norms and biases that perpetuate bullying and inequality.

Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
Magic Messes is a YouTube channel by girls, for girls, empowering them through creative expression. Featuring skits, vlogs, and spoken word, it challenges toxic norms, promotes positive friendships, self-identity, and mental health, reflecting girl culture authentically and thoughtfully.
Project Impact
Magic Messes: Changemakers is a digital platform where young people can express themselves and build empathy in a supervised space. Through psychologist-approved content, it fosters positive self-esteem, helps prevent bullying, and supports mental health. This community empowers the next generation to become changemakers, both online and in everyday life.
Project Mission
Our mission with ‘Magic Messes: Changemakers’ is to empower young performers to express their true selves and teach self-compassion through 5-10 minute videos. These feature scenes, monologues, and art, along with expert advice from psychologist Heather Skoll, offering wellness exercises to help children embrace authenticity in a world that often pressures them to conform.
