Ayoub Omar
Ayoub Omar, a proud Ottawa native, is deeply passionate about community service, languages, and basketball. His love for basketball opened the door to leadership, teamwork, and resilience, shaping how he connects with and uplifts others. What began as a sport quickly became a foundation for his commitment to service, teaching him the importance of accountability and collective growth. With a curiosity for languages and cultures, Ayoub brings people together and uses his skills to inspire, lead, and give back meaningfully to his community.
Leaders of the New School Retreat
The Leaders of the New School retreat is designed for youth ready to create meaningful change in their own lives and communities. Through interactive workshops and reflective learning, participants will build emotional intelligence, resilience, and leadership skills that empower them to lead with empathy, courage, and purpose. This experience nurtures a generation of strong, self-aware leaders equipped to face challenges, uplift others, and drive lasting positive impact in their neighborhoods and beyond.
About this Project
Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
Our project offers a leadership retreat where youth engage in workshops, group discussions, and reflective exercises over three days. Activities focus on building emotional intelligence, resilience, and leadership skills. By the program’s end, participants are equipped to lead with empathy and purpose in their communities.
Project Impact
The project empowers youth to become resilient, emotionally intelligent leaders who inspire change in their communities. By developing empathy, courage, and purpose-driven leadership, participants gain the confidence to overcome challenges and uplift those around them. The ripple effect strengthens communities, fostering a generation prepared to create lasting positive impact locally and beyond.
Project Mission
Our mission is to equip youth with emotional intelligence, resilience, and leadership skills through five interactive workshops featuring hands-on activities and clear outcomes. By November 2025, we will host three structured discussion sessions to gather feedback and reflections, ensuring youth voices shape future programming and strengthen long-term community impact.
