Ayotte Bouchard
Valérie is a queer artist who has developed her artistic and professional practice at the intersection of art, social engagement, and activism. Deeply shaped by her involvement in community work, this experience continually informs her approach to cultural mediation. As a committed feminist, she believes in art as a tool for social and political mobilization, one that strengthens the agency of historically marginalized communities.
Combining Our Struggles
About this Project
Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
The project unfolds in three phases: participatory workshops in fall 2025 to create the quilt blocks, the collective assembly of the piece in winter 2026, and finally a gallery opening and exhibition in February 2026 that brings the community together and shares the reflections that emerged throughout the process.
Project Impact
The project amplifies the visibility and voices of queer and marginalized communities by fostering their collective creative expression. It creates spaces for solidarity and dialogue, raises public awareness of current social issues, and leaves a lasting artistic impression that reflects collective struggles and community resilience.
Project Mission
The mission of Tisser nos luttes is to bring together queer and marginalized communities through a collective artistic process. Through the creation of a collective quilt and community workshops, the project seeks to foster expression, solidarity, and critical reflection while raising public awareness of social justice issues and ongoing struggles.
Project Team
- Laura Maria joins as a co-facilitator when there are more than 20 participants.
