Anne Moreau
Anne is a lawyer with an extensive background in community organizing. She has led many community projects including “28 Moments of Black Canadian History” a YouTube series that led to curriculum changes in schools across Canada. She also has experience hosting events such as “Dinner & Politics” which brought Ottawa women of colour together to discuss politics before the 2019 elections. Anne fell in love with Pilates while in Toronto for her articles and committed to becoming a teacher within a year of first trying Pilates. She wants the modality to be more accessible so that others in her community may also benefit physically, emotionally and mentally. See Anne’s work: @balancedpilates_ & @unilearnal
Pilates & Lattes
Myself and another Pilates instructor trainee are planning to host an event that empowers other Black women and women of colour to try the practice of Pilates. We aim to host around 25 women - keeping the group relatively small to ensure meaningful connections form. Our friends, moms, aunts, cousins and sisters deserve this type of event and deserve to have the tools to take their wellness seriously. We really want to build this community in Ottawa and think the Mat Lab would be a perfect location for this event!
