Sowing Seeds - Growing Community
Sowing Seeds - Growing Community is an educational and accessible community garden and farmland operated under ocean-friendly principles of conservation, permeability and retention. It provides affordable, accessible, plastic-free produce and programming to low-income individuals, families and the surrounding community.
About this Project
Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
With the help of community groups build and sustain a community garden with at least 1-5 weekly volunteers through harvest during fall 2024 and donate the resulting produce to the food bank. Invite community members to take part in all garden activities, with family and youth programming during April-August 2024.
Project Impact
Free community programming and education, volunteer harvest and produce donation to local food banks remain ongoing.
Project Mission
Educate the community through family and child programming/interactive materials while providing fresh produce to local food banks.
