ER Essential Bags Social Justice
The project put together compassion bags for ER patients at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton. These bags included items such as hygiene products, underwear, toys and colouring books for children, and even finger mits that our team crocheted. During the project, we maintained communication with the hospital staff about items that we should include in the compassion bags. We also hosted a seminar during bag assembly where we invited guest speakers to speak about healthcare in Alberta.

- At risk youth & children
- Senior citizens
- Multi-barrier populations
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
- SDG 3: Good health and Well-being
- SDG 10: Reduced inequalities
How the project works
We assembled and distributed bags containing amenities and entertainment items to the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, AB. The hospital staff assisted with distributing these bags to ER patients.
Project Impact
We were able to impact hundreds of ER patients in the Edmonton community through our compassion bags. Our project was a major success and we are excited to continue it into the future. Our project contributed to advancing several SDGs including No Poverty and Good Health and Well-being. The ER compassion bags started by taking note of wealth disparities among ER patients. Not all patients can afford amenities to make their overnight stays as comfortable as possible.
Project Mission
We believe that all patients should have as comfortable of a stay as possible. Our aim with this project is to create an equitable environment for all patients in the ER.
