Abigail Chan
Hi! I'm Abigail :) Throughout my 10 years as a swimmer, I've always looked up to elite swimmers in my club—the Region of Waterloo Swim Club—who were my role models in the sport. As I graduate out of the club and the sport this year, I want to help create an even more connected and engaged community in ROW with my project, the Beyond the Blocks workshop.
ROW Beyond the Blocks Workshop
The ROW Beyond the Blocks Workshop aims to address the challenges of keeping athletes of different age groups engaged as our club continues to grow larger with each year, encourage team bonding between athletes, and pass skills, sportsmanship, and ROW values from one generation of swimmers to the next. Swimmers will engage in skill development workshops led by elite athletes currently swimming with ROW, and be inspired by the stories of our Olympians.

How the project works
This event will be hosted on June 28, 2026 (8:30 am - 2:00 pm) and is open to swimmers ages 7 and older who are interested in building their skills and confidence from the water. They will be learning from some of our elite swimmers in senior groups at ROW in skill development workshops, and our past Olympians who will be coming in for a Q&A session. Swimmers will also receive exclusive ROW 50th merchandise and have the chance to win prizes in a raffle draw!
